Common Questions Regarding Dental Implants

How successful are dental implants?
The success rate is extremely high, over 90%. We have placed over 2,700 implants at our office as of January 2002. During the fourteen years we have been placing implants we have lost only 2.5% of these implants. We have been able to replace most of those few implants following healing of the implant socket(s). With proper regular care, your implants should work very well for you.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the procedure will depend on the number of implants and the type of replacement teeth that will be needed to meet your needs. The way this can be determined is by meeting with your family dentist and Dr. Jensen for an examination and consultation.

Will my insurance cover the cost?
This will depend on the benefits provided by your specific plan and carrier. Although not all plans cover dental implants, a clarification of benefits can be obtained from your insurance company to see what benefits you do have. We also have two payment plans to choose from. If payment in full is made the day of the procedure, a 5% savings is given. We can also divide the payments over six months.

How long does the procedure take?
The amount of time depends on the number of implants placed and the complexity of the case. The average length of time is anywhere from two to four hours.

How much discomfort will I be in afterwards?
Most of our patients tell us they had little discomfort -- far less then they had anticipated. If necessary, a prescription pain medication can be given after the procedure.

Will I be able to work or do daily activities the following day?
Following the procedure, relaxing for the remainder of the day is recommended. Most people are able to resume their daily activities the next day.
